Public Evidence Record 01

May 2, 2025 — Continuing-enrolment decision.

The most recent formal academic adjudication identified in the current record before the renewed 2026 return request.

What this record establishes: Associate Dean Zoë Sinel denied the relief Western treated as a petition under the Continuing Enrolment policy, required withdrawal from the Faculty of Law, identified the Senate Review Board Academic (SRBA) as the final internal appeal body, and stated a six-week appeal period.

Source context

The April 2025 process was not a single standalone written petition. The record shows an April 11 alternate-resolution request, an April 16 meeting Western treated as an oral-petition process, further questions and supporting materials, and the May 2 determination.

The decision itself records that it was “unclear whether this message constituted a petition.”

Western nevertheless treated the April meeting and later supporting-material sequence as the petition before the Associate Dean and issued the May 2 decision.

Why it matters

This decision is the formal status decision later relied upon in the 2025–2026 return-path dispute. The public campaign does not present the decision as proof of every broader allegation. Its significance here is procedural: it fixed a withdrawal status, pointed to SRBA, and became the reference point for later questions about good standing, return eligibility and degree completion.

Redaction note

This public record omits personal contact information, medical material, unrelated third-party information and attachments not necessary to establish the academic-status point.
